This is the section that earns its place, because the 3-bed is the house size we most often see fitted with the wrong boiler by someone else.
The mistake is sizing off bedroom count using a chart written for the English market. Two things get missed in Scotland. First, heat loss. Our building stock — solid sandstone walls, older single-glazed or early double-glazed windows, high ceilings in Victorian and Edwardian homes — loses heat faster than a modern English cavity-wall semi of the same footprint. A boiler and radiator system sized off a generic UK chart can leave a Scottish 3-bed struggling to hold temperature on the coldest weeks, which are exactly the weeks it needs to perform.
Second, the en-suite trap.
