Common Questions About Our Octopus Partnership
Octopus Energy is the UK’s leading green energy provider, but they can’t be everywhere at once. They select a small number of elite local installers like The Edinburgh Boiler Company to represent them. Being a Trusted Partner means we have been fully vetted by Octopus to ensure our installations meet their strict technical and customer service standards.
No. You can hire us to install your heat pump regardless of who your current supplier is.
In Scotland, homeowners can access a grant of up to seven thousand five hundred pounds and even more for rural properties to help cover the cost of an air source heat pump. Unlike English schemes where the installer applies for you, in Scotland, you apply via Home Energy Scotland. As an MCS certified partner, we provide the itemized quotes and technical specifications you need to ensure your application is successful.
Absolutely. Modern air source heat pumps are designed to operate efficiently even in temperatures as low as minus fifteen degrees. We specialize in Cold Climate technology that extracts heat from the damp, chilly air typical of a Scottish winter. Because we know Edinburgh homes, we ensure your system is correctly sized to keep your property warm year round.
Because we are an Octopus Trusted Partner, you get a double layer of protection. Your heat pump typically comes with a five to seven year manufacturer warranty, and our workmanship is backed by our own local guarantee. We are right here in Edinburgh, so if you ever have a question or need a service, we’re just a phone call away.
No, they hum like a large refrigerator. The units we supply have had many years of research and development to minimise any noise.
GSHPs are quieter than ASHPs. This is because they have no need for a fan and there is a reduced compressor power capacity requirement because heat extracted from the ground is generally warmer than that from the air.
ASHP noise is only generated when it is in operation and has been compared to anything from a modern washing machine on a spin cycle to a chest freezer. Any noise generated will largely be minimised by double glazing.
Most air source heat pump installations are completed within two to five days. This includes removing your old boiler, installing the outdoor unit, fitting a new hot water cylinder, and ensuring your radiators are optimized for the new system. We handle the entire process from initial survey to final commission.
